Hi everyone, Just writing to give you all a bit of background as to what you can expect from my blog and to what I have already discovered about Hamilton.
I have three main blog objectives: 1. I will draw on the work of sexuality and identity to examine queer and heterosexual spaces in Hamilton. 2. To deconstruct the heteronormative social constructions and identity the power relations of and around these spaces. 3. To demonstrate, using examples, the way in which a tousit's sexuality may affect his or her tourism experience in Hamilton. Followers of my blog can expect an insight into the way in which a post-structuralist and feminist perspective will evaluate the tourism industry in Hamilton through personal experiences.
To gain an insight into Hamilton I investigated the website http://www.hamilton.co.nz/ and proceeded to the 'Visit Hamilton' section and after examining the website I have noticed that Hamilton portrays a great deal of masculine and heterosexual reflections in tourism marketing which in turn back up various meta-narratives. The white, rational male conquers nature, images of women are assigned to shopping and nature and notions of domesticity.
I am interested in finding out more about the city of Hamilton with a focus on sexuality.
